Tell us a bit about your background and your career journey so far:
I graduated from NAIT’s DMIT program concentrating on web development and design and transitioned into working at Credwise Financial. So far my professional path has been centered on front-end development, with a strong emphasis in front-end and UX Design. Now at CREDWISE, with the product development team, I am exposed to Angular and MEAN stack framework as well, which allows me to take on both development and design responsibilities.
What inspired you to pursue your current field of work or study?
My interest in web design began when I took a beginners course in the field. I quickly became intrigued with the idea of creating and designing websites. The ability to design intuitive and seamless user interfaces that solves real-world problems inspired me to pursue front-end development. Additionally, during my studies, I was drawn to user experience design where I discovered the significance of understanding user behavior and how important it is to craft intuitive, user-friendly interfaces. This blend of creativity and functionality led me to pursue front-end development and UX design.
What has been one of your proudest accomplishments in your career or personal life?
One of my proudest accomplishments was a project I worked on for an interior design company, where I was tasked with creating an e-commerce website. This project was particularly challenging as I had to handle both the front-end design and back-end integration using PHP. One of the biggest hurdles was managing multiple form validations to ensure a smooth user experience. Despite the complexity, the project was a success, and the client was extremely satisfied with the final product. It was a rewarding experience that helped me grow both technically and creatively.
How do you stay motivated and continuously grow in your skills and knowledge?
To stay motivated I keep up with industry trends, reading articles on the latest web development tools and the evolving UI/UX design methodologies. I continuously learn and sharpen my skills that will help me in a rapidly changing field. Additionally, I keep taking courses to update and enhance my skill set and apply those skills in side projects. For me, collaboration with my team also plays a key role in my growth. Working together on projects, sharing knowledge, and receiving feedback promotes a dynamic learning environment.
How did you end up at CREDWISE, and what made you choose to join the team?
I came across CREDWISE on Linkedin and was amazed by the idea and the high potential it had as a start-up. The idea of working on a project in a fast growing environment, creating something new, meeting passionate, ambitious people sounded like a great opportunity. After meeting Sanjay Karthikeyan, the CEO and Co-founder at Edmonton Unlimited, I applied for their Learn and Engage: Contributors program and now I am part of this great team here at CREDWISE.
What has been your most memorable project or task at CREDWISE, and what did you enjoy most about it?
So far the most memorable project is the ongoing development for the RewardsX funnel system, an internal lead generation tool for CREDWISE. I thoroughly enjoyed working on the improvement of the user interface that was not only visually appealing but intuitive for users as well. The project also gives me the opportunity to work on various front-end challenges. In addition to RewardsX, I also worked on layouts and wireframes for other systems, which allowed me to refine my designs and development skills. The combination of design and functionality made the project memorable and rewarding.
How has your experience in the Learn and Engage program at CREDWISE impacted your professional development?
The Learn and Engage program has been a valuable part of my professional development. Practical skills and real-world application that the program focuses on has helped me refine my technical skills. Moreover the opportunity to connect and collaborate with talented colleagues, share insights and learn from their experiences has been greatly appreciated. By being part of the Learn and Engage Program, I am gaining Canadian work experience with the startup community experience as well.
