Aanal Patel’s journey into the world of AI and machine learning began with her Bachelor's in Computer Engineering from Gujarat Technological University, where she discovered her passion for turning complex data into intelligent solutions. From developing hand gesture control systems at GIRO FinTech to applying AI in real-world settings as an R&D Engineer at Prayosha Food Services, Aanal’s career has been shaped by innovation. Currently pursuing advanced studies in AI and ML at Lambton College, she now works as an Associate AI Developer at Credwise Financial Inc., where she harnesses machine learning to power transformative projects like sales prediction models on Google Cloud. Known for her ability to combine technical precision with a creative approach, Aanal is also recognized for her work on impactful projects such as the Impostor Syndrome Comparison Map, which blends AI with mental health awareness. Driven by curiosity and a love for problem-solving, Aanal thrives on pushing the boundaries of AI’s potential, constantly learning and innovating in the dynamic fintech space at Credwise.


Tell us a bit about your background and your career journey so far:

I have always been passionate about technology, which led me to pursue a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Gujarat Technological University. During my studies, I became particularly interested in artificial intelligence and machine learning, which shaped my career path. I gained hands-on experience through various internships, including working as an AI ML Intern at GIRO FinTech, where I developed machine learning models for hand gesture control systems and educational games.

After graduation, I worked as an R&D Engineer at Prayosha Food Services, where I applied my knowledge of machine learning and robotics. This experience solidified my problem-solving skills and taught me the importance of innovation in real-world applications.

Currently, I’m pursuing advanced studies in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Lambton College and working as an Associate AI Developer at Credwise Financial Inc. At Credwise, I focus on developing machine learning models, like a sales prediction model using Google Cloud Platform, and collaborating with different teams to integrate data-driven solutions into business operations.

Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work on projects that not only challenge me technically but also allow me to make a meaningful impact through AI.

What inspired you to pursue your current field of work or study?

My fascination with technology and its ability to solve complex problems is what first inspired me to pursue a career in artificial intelligence and machine learning. During my undergraduate studies in computer engineering, I was captivated by how AI could transform raw data into actionable insights and automate tasks that were once considered impossible for machines. This sense of possibility, coupled with the rapid advancements in AI, made me eager to dive deeper into the field.

A key moment that solidified my decision was working on a project involving hand gesture control systems during my AI ML internship. Seeing how machine learning models could enable real-time human-computer interaction opened my eyes to the endless potential of AI in everyday life. Since then, I’ve been driven to learn more about AI’s capabilities, from developing sales prediction models to working on innovative AI-driven projects at Credwise Financial Inc.

The ability to combine my passion for problem-solving with cutting-edge technology has been a major motivating factor, and I’m excited about the future possibilities of AI in shaping industries and improving lives.

What has been one of your proudest accomplishments in your career or personal life?

One of my proudest accomplishments has been developing and publishing the Impostor Syndrome Comparison Map during the STEM Fellowship 2024 Competition. We created a web application that identified and visualized traits of impostor syndrome using clustering algorithms and demographic data. The project not only allowed me to apply my AI and data science skills in a meaningful way, but it also addressed an issue that affects many people, especially in competitive fields.

What made this accomplishment particularly special was seeing how the insights from the project resonated with others and contributed to discussions on mental health in academic and professional environments. Having the research published in the STEM Fellowship Journal was a huge milestone for me, as it validated the hard work and impact of the project.

This experience has motivated me to continue using AI and machine learning for projects that have both a technical challenge and a broader positive impact on society.

How do you stay motivated and continuously grow in your skills and knowledge?

Staying motivated and continuously growing in my skills is driven by my curiosity and passion for learning. The field of artificial intelligence is constantly evolving, which makes it both exciting and challenging. I make it a point to stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning by reading research papers, following industry trends, and taking online courses. For example, I’ve completed certifications in supervised machine learning and AI through platforms like DeepLearning.AI and IBM to sharpen my skills.

One of the key ways I stay motivated is by working on personal projects outside of my professional role. These projects allow me to experiment with new technologies and explore innovative ideas.

Collaborating with peers and participating in hackathons and competitions also keeps me motivated, as it challenges me to solve real-world problems while learning from others. Overall, the combination of hands-on projects, continuous learning, and community engagement helps me stay on top of my game and inspired to keep growing.

How did you end up at CREDWISE, and what made you choose to join the team?

I was actively connecting with professionals in the AI and fintech space to expand my network, and during this process, I had the opportunity to speak with Credwise's CEO, Mr. Sanjay Karthikeyan. Our conversation was a turning point for me. He shared Credwise’s vision of using AI to create innovative financial solutions, and I was immediately drawn to the forward-thinking approach of the company.

Hearing firsthand about the projects they were working on and how they leverage data to drive business outcomes really resonated with me. Mr. Karthikeyan’s passion for innovation and creating a collaborative environment where teams can thrive convinced me that Credwise would be the perfect place to further my career in AI and machine learning. After that conversation, I knew that joining Credwise would not only allow me to apply my skills but also help me grow as part of a dynamic team pushing the boundaries of financial technology.

What has been your most memorable project or task at CREDWISE, and what did you enjoy most about it?

One of the most memorable projects I’ve worked on at Credwise has been the development of a sales prediction model using machine learning. The project involved analyzing large datasets and utilizing Google Cloud Platform to build and fine-tune the model. What made this project particularly exciting was the real-world impact it had—helping the business make data-driven decisions for inventory and marketing strategies.

I enjoyed the collaborative aspect of the project the most. Working closely with the data, back-end, and front-end teams allowed me to see how the model I developed is going to be integrated into the overall product and used in real-time by the business. The challenge of ensuring the model's accuracy, scalability, and responsiveness in a live environment was both demanding and rewarding.

This project pushed me to apply my technical skills while gaining a deeper understanding of how AI can drive value in financial services, and it’s been incredibly fulfilling to see the results of our work make a tangible difference.

How has your experience in the Learn and Engage program at CREDWISE impacted your professional development?

The Learn and Engage program at Credwise has had a significant impact on my professional development. It provided me with a structured way to enhance my skills and knowledge through hands-on learning and mentorship. One of the key benefits of the program was the opportunity to work on real-world projects while receiving guidance from experienced professionals within the company. This not only deepened my understanding of AI and machine learning applications but also allowed me to refine my problem-solving and technical skills in a practical setting.

The collaborative sessions and workshops within the program helped me stay up-to-date with the latest trends in technology and fostered a sense of continuous learning. I particularly appreciated the chance to network with colleagues across different teams, which enhanced my ability to work cross-functionally and improved my communication skills.

Overall, the Learn and Engage program has been instrumental in accelerating my growth at Credwise, giving me the tools to take on more challenging tasks and contribute more effectively to the company’s success.

What are you most excited about regarding the future of CREDWISE and your role in the company?

I’m really excited about the future of Credwise, especially in how we’re leveraging AI and machine learning to innovate in the financial services industry. The rapid advancements in technology provide endless opportunities for us to build smarter, more efficient solutions that can transform how businesses operate and interact with customers. I’m particularly enthusiastic about the potential of AI to drive personalized financial products and insights that can improve customer experience and decision-making.

In my role as an Associate AI Developer, I’m eager to continue contributing to these innovations, whether through enhancing our machine learning models or exploring new ways to integrate AI-driven insights into our products. As we scale up and tackle more complex challenges, I’m excited to be part of a forward-thinking team that values creativity and technical excellence.
